Bath
A few miles inland of the ships and cranes of Bath Iron Works,
you will find yourself in North Bath. The rolling farmland
of this quiet area is surrounded on one side by the waters
of Merrymeeting Bay, where the Kennebec and Androscoggin Rivers
come together and on the other by the Kennebec as it makes
its way to sea. And there in the middle of this idyllic setting
is the Mid Coast area's premiere 18-hole championship golf
course: The Bath Country Club.
Founded
originally in 1932, Bath Country Club was for many years the
Bath municipal course. In the early '90s, it was purchased
by Harris Golf... and today, it's like a different facility.
Course improvements by the dozen over the years have drawn
golfers from as far away as Portland, Rockland, Lewiston,
Augusta and beyond. The recent paving of cart paths makes
a beautiful ride a smooth one, too. And the Clubhouse has
undergone some of the most significant changes of all-- with
a full banquet facility, an enormous pro shop (The Harris
Golf Shop at Bath Country Club) and state-of-the-art golf
simulators in the downstairs lounge. The Clubhouse is now
a year-round operation.
But
it all comes back to the golf. And Bath Country Club offers
some of the best golf around, whether you're a seasoned pro
or a golfer at the beginning of your love affair with the
sport. The scenic vistas, great facilities and close accessibility
to Maine's two largest population centers make Bath a great
place to "Skip Work... Play Golf!"
